A Stratford-upon-Avon singer who has performed for the former Archbishop of Canterbury will now be bringing her talents to the Shakespeare Birthday Celebrations weekend.
Mezzo Soprano singer Millie Underwood, who has performed at top events such as the Champions Tennis at the Royal Albert Hall and international rugby matches, will now be helping her hometown to celebrate the biggest weekend in their calendar on Saturday, April 27 and Sunday, April 28.
Millie said: “I am delighted to be taking part in the celebrations which have formed such a fundamental part of my childhood and to be helping Stratford-upon-Avon to celebrate the bard’s legacy. I am really looking forward to all the festivities!”
Sarah Summers, Town Clerk for Stratford-upon-Avon Town Council said: “Millie is a wonderful addition to our packed schedule of events taking place across Shakespeare’s Birthday Celebrations weekend and we are very excited that she is available to help us celebrate.”
The parade will take place from 10:30am in Bridge Street and across the weekend there will also be the quill ceremony, the National Living Statue Championships, artisan food courts and market, free workshops, street entertainment and the Scarecrow Festival.
